Self-healing and Meditation,
When you take Reiki 1 the importance of doing self-healing for 21 days is emphasised as
the Reiki flows through each of the chakras in turn for 3 weeks. However, some people
seem to think that after the 21 days, there is no need for this. Perhaps if you are
doing Reiki treatments every day, you may be fine but even now I still value my own
self healing session nearly every day. Without it my vibrations lower and it is less
easy to maintain a calm, peaceful attitude if there are any problems through the day.

To maintain and improve the vibration of Reiki requires some effort and some time but
the rewards are well worth it. Have you noticed kids for example, sometimes they are
really ratty and rise to any bait, yet other times quite laid back? This could be when
they are tired and hungry as opposed to well fed and comfortable. It is all down to
brain chemicals so that when a good meal increases the Serotonin levels, they are more tolerant.

In the same way, Reiki creates the brain chemicals that make us feel peaceful and content.
The more we use it more the neural pathways connect throughout the brain to keep us that way.
Of course it's not just the brain or mind, which is affected. As we move our hands over the
body, then the energy of Reiki flows through to the cellular level, increasing the ability
of the cell to self heal, renew and rejuvenate. It also flows into mental/emotional and
spiritual levels to bring change to all layers. As we heal each layer another is revealed,
just like pealing the layers of an onion.

Whenever we go into meditation or give ourselves Reiki, our brain state changes from the
normal Beta state at 14-28 cycles per second to the Alpha state at 7-14 cycles per second.
It seems strange that as our brain waves lower, we achieve higher states of consciousness.
In this state of mind, we may be more alert even though very relaxed. In fact the first stage
of meditation is relaxation. Simply sit or lie down in a comfortable state just enjoying the
feeling of relaxation. The next step is contemplation. Just allow thoughts to pass through
your mind without bothering too much about them. When you take it in stages, then there is
no anger and frustration with yourself. The third step is nothingness and it may seem
contradictory but this is a wonderful state of bliss. You may find yourself thinking,
"this is great, I'm doing it now" but of course you are not because you are still thinking.
Eventually you might find yourself catching thoughts as they come through, then you are nearly there.
Guided meditations are a good way to enter into a meditative state and deeply relax.
If you think about a wonderful holiday you had, you might find yourself drifting already
into a dreamy state. When you bring colours into the meditation, they start to work on the
chakras and raise your consciousness.
The physical effects of meditation are well documented- lower blood pressure, deep physical
relaxation and many beneficial effects. The spiritual benefits are a sense of connection
with God (or whatever you call the Source of All), a connection to all life, a deep sense
of peace and the development of psychic abilities. In meditation or when using Reiki many
healers experience the spirit guides or Angels or receive messages from them. If
you don't then it could be that you are afraid to see because of what happened
in a past life. See the section on blockages.
Try this meditation: relax your whole body and release any tension anywhere
you find it. Imagine that you have roots going down deep into the Earth to keep
you grounded. Then imagine a copper light shining above your head flowing down into
your head, neck, arms, body etc until it fills you. You are a chalice overflowing
with liquid copper. Now see a silver light above you. This silver flows into you
replacing the copper in every part of your body. Silver shines out from your
centre radiating out into the aura. Now look above and see a wonderful golden
energy raining down on you like a shower. It fills every part of you,
charging you with high energy, with dynamic power. Again it fills you until it
overflows into the aura, out into the world and into the Earth. Notice how
you feel and allow yourself just to be.
As you connect to God/Spirit in a deeply relaxed state of mind and body, your subtle energies
are strengthened and you may allow changes to your own abilities to be enhanced. Various
techniques like attunements or activation of DNA strands may speed up the process but it
still has to happen at the right time for you. The first psychic sense to be activated is
usually clairsentience as you become sensitive to the feelings of others (here and in spirit).
Then there is clairvoyance where you may see those in Spirit or see images/symbols given to you to interpret.
Claircognisance means that you just know even though you don't know where the information
came from. Years ago in a circle, I was blindfolded and a coloured scarf was put on my head.
I had to work out what colour it was but I just knew from the start that it was red. Logic
and reason just confused me and took me further from the truth. This is Claircognisance.
The last psychic sense to develop is usually Clairaudience, when you hear God or Spirit.
Whatever you hear, see, know must be tested. If you walked down the street and a stranger
told you something, would you believe him? Discrimination is an important lesson for us all.
We must know who to trust, who to listen to, who to accept. We do this by challenging three
times ? Are you a being acting in God's Love, God's Light, God's Wisdom? Ask three times and
be aware of the answer. By universal law you must be answered truthfully.
